Charlton Lamb then a mere 45 year old youth played a magnificent innings alone among the top order to take us to within reasonable distance of  victory. Willis and Kershaw then added 42 of which 30 were struck by Richard Kershaw and yet with 12 to win off 12 balls these two stalwarts fell short of the task required. For some reason Tony Whiteway batted at 11,perhaps injured.

For many years Nomads played Old Cranleighans on the Saturday of their cricket week. Some great matches took place played in the best spirit but very competitively and the OCs were generous hosts.

Sadly as league cricket became king and the younger generation prefered to play for their league club on Saturdays it became increasingly difficult for both clubs to raise suitable sides and so the fixture was dropped.

Nomads always look forward to being invited back and correspondence has continued so far without success.
