Someone called Pain did not turn up leaving us at 10. A youngster from the touring Delhi Blues called Ajay Jadeja hit 76 and later played for India. The oppo’ seemed to think we had batted too long but in an astonishing turn round they were not far off winning as the last pair took a liking to the   young leggie Samesh and hit 39.

Richard Fanthorpe did not have one of his best days behind the stumps despite completing an adroit stumping and taking a catch. In fact 49 extras(45 byes) was by far the top scorer for Effingham. Nomads were not invited back for 1990 probably because Effingham joined a league.

The three ‘Delhi Blues’ came kitted out in their smart blazers and waited patiently for the curious occidentals to finishing drinking before they were driven ‘home’ to a temple in Ealing.
