Rain delayed the start of this game until mid afternoon by which time some stragglers had elected not to set off although one decided to return home so eventually eight Templars played seven Nomads plus a Templar and there were some additional substitute fielders. By the close Templars had 12 present, one still playing for us.

Steve Watson took two early wickets whereupon Templars revived  adding 49 for the third wicket.Three more wickets fell for the addition of 45 runs but then a strong stand between L Turner and Rotheroe took the score to a commendable 203.

Blumberg and Peerless made a good start adding 93 for the first wicket for just over 15 overs.Watson scored freely but then skillfuly fed the strike to Blumberg as he neared a century. He hit one six over square leg and a host of boundary fours but with mostly nine fielders there was probably more running between the wickets for the Hon Sec than has been witnessed ever since.

With the last few balls remaining Nomads required 2 to win while blumberg needed 4 for his ton. He hit the penultimate ball towards the tree by the pavilion where the cars are usually parked seemingly very hard. The batsmen crossed for two  expecting a boundary four. However the cover fielder having run leisurely to the boundary announced that it had stopped inches short. "Well kick it over" cried many a fielder and watching Nomads. He did not heed their advice but  picked the ball up and threw it in.

Brian Wilson took out the stumps whereupon the batsmen enquired if they could forfeit the last two runs. "The match is over gentlemen" replied Brian Wilson.
