Gerald Plumbly 2003 at the Nomads Centenary Dinner
On October 22nd 2004 the Stoics Cricket club founded 1877 celebrated the ninetieth birthday of their President for Life Gerald Plumbly with a protracted lunch at the RAF club Piccadilly London since when the lunch was repeated each year until 2009.
Gerald himself played sometime for Nomads and over the years there have been and still are many members who play for both Stoics & Nomads clubs.

For several decades Gerald largely single handedly ran the Stoics who only play midweek cricket and generally to a high standard. Gerald was driving to and scoring the matches into his 94th year and chairing the AGM.

In his playing days he was notorious for arriving late always with memorable excuses caused by his duties as a Vet including the Queen's Corgis & Horses. See Telegraph Obituary for story of stripper and Boa Constrictor

Gerald was also at some time President & Captain of Old Dunstonians and played a fair bit for Romany CC and also Privateers CC. He also ran a squash club The Swans for many years.
