            Syd seals Headley victory

After a run of victories Nomads were pulled up short in unlikely style through a superb  innings from Headley's skipper ably supported by youngster Cunningham. These two put on  92 for the 8th wicket to deny what looked like an inevitable Nomads victory.

Nomads took 44 overs to post 200-7 and that declaration was largely due to a swashbuckling innings by Kunal Seth who hit five 6s in his brisk 44 not out.He and Richard Fanthorp put on 62 unbeaten for the 7th wicket.

The Nomads innings started badly with Lascelles out for a duck. However Hoar and hill look in no trouble as they score breezed along tp 77 in the 15th over. Then idioticly Hoare was run out. Then Hill fell for 27 at 94. The innings then slowed down and the return of Midmer and introduction of   Stone saw the innings grind to a halt as 4 wickets fell. Seth's innings was most timely as the hapless g;lass was hit for 26 in an over.

Headleys innings flounderd at the start with an oustanding catch in the covers by hoare and two behind by Hill.Headley were soon 38-4.Although the innings steadied Headley were 111-8,Blumberg having taken three wickets and Lamb three. Lamb then tossed the ball up invitingly only for Chapman and Cunningham to take advantage with few mishaps. the skipper then turned to Syd Mehra to perform the coup de grace. Sadly Headley took a great delight to Mehra's bowling,35 runs in 3 overs, and thus emboldened plundered in turn Lamb 25 runs off 3.1 overs.

And so once again Nomads had snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Nevertheles much ale,King & Barnes was consumed afterwards as were many Headleys excellent hot sausages.
