Timely ton from James While
On a fine sunny day a good century by James While well supported by Andy Smith who injured himself while batting ensured a timely win over Leatherhead. This is our oldest continuous fixture and it is some time since we had a win indeed the last two matches were heavy defeats.
Clive Huggins won the toss and elected to bat. While soon had Leatherhaead in trouble but a flurry of three wickets after a stand of 41 seemed to put Nomads in the driving seat. However some brave batting from Baker restored the home side's innings and despite late wickets from Ollie Smith and Blumberg a respectable total of 200 was achieved.
Young seamer Leach bowled both Lascelles and Terblanche early to put pressure on Nomads but While and Smith saw out the crisis and were soon dominating the bowling.
During the Leatherhead innings Sam Blake took a nasty blow above the right eye while standing up to James While and was taken to hospital. However he returned duly stitched up and batted in a helmet in true Nomads style.
