The Virgin XI was founded by Jeremy Lascelles and others when they worked for Virgin Records in the early 1980s. However the club continued with a momentum all its own, renown for its stunning damsels in support, as much as for its formidable prowess on the field. In the end though, anno domini, family and kids took their toll, so much so, that after one memorable visit to Thoiry when the club lost two out of two, Colin Sargent exclaimed "Virgin XI will never be the same, from now on we will have to try if we are to win". By this time several Virgin were playing for Nomads and so the decision was taken by its leader to submerge Virgin XI within Nomads CC. Despite an AGM of the club rejecting this action, de facto, that is what happened. In fact the many of the founding Virgin XI had played for Nomads in their 'youth'. Now a few games, match managed by Jeremy Lascelles and Jamie Lane, maintain the Virgin XI tradition as well as the tour to Thoiry, Meudon and in 2007 Chantilly.
