Fifty two overs not enough

On a cold September day the Hons Sec was captain so he sent whiteway in to open with Mark Williams and the two added 127 for the first wicket. The score was 197 for 2 when Williams having reached his century as out.nomads then went into familiar collapse mode losing a further two wickets for 1 run. Jeavons and Fanthorpe added 50 runs for the 6th wicket. Ancient Jack Hyams was bowled for 1 and Nomads declared at 243-7 off 59 overs, a little later than originally planned.

With limited bowling resources Nomads were assisted by the early run out of opener Heazell and Blumberg removed nuber number 3at 51. Opner Ladd struck two productive partnerships with first Jones and then Crum before being caught of Wlliams bowling leg spin,146-4. The score had reached 178 when the returning seamer richard turner took three wickets and abramson bowled number 9. Nomads briefly sniffed victory but Bishop and Bathard saw The Hill to safety and a draw.
