More dropped catches

Nick Hammill received some pre-match flak as he had assured the match manager that Harry Latchman would play but the former Middlesex and Notts cricketer preferred to play Golf so we were unnecessarily ten. This obviously effected Nick Hammil's concentration as he dropped both openers in the first over.! As these two then added some 150 runs for the 1st wicket this twofold lapse was unfortunate. Eventually Blumberg and Whiteway removed them and indeed Whiteway recorded his best ever figures for Nomads , a sixfer off ten overs. Pelicans declared after 43 overs for 218-7.

In reply Nomads made a reasoballe start despite losing rochford to a run out and had reached 61-2 whereupon a mini collapse set in, three wickets for 20 runs reducing Nomads to 81-5 and the chase was off. Whiteway then orchestrated a draw with assistance ffom Trevor Griffiths, John White and Nick Hammill to finish on 130-7 off 42 overs..A disappointing conclusion at the attractive Great Missenden ground which was to become Pelicans permanent home in future years.

Nevertheless some hours later Nomads left the Nag's Head Pub well refreshed for the drive home!
