Banned Penn not Enough

N omads bowled well to restrict Old Lags to 159. Whiteway bowled a long spell to take 3 and ‘Oaters’ in a shorter spell took 4 yet the last wicket partnership of 30 odd was to prove crucial.

In reply a decent Nomads batting line up stumbled and stuttered to a miserable total of 122 with only Ghersie and Penn making any worthwhile contributions and they made but 25 each. Whiteway having bowled 15 overs requested a place at the bottom of the order. In the event this was unfortunate.Nomads thus lost by 37 runs. Old Lags’ Steward finished with figures of 6-39 including clean bowling Oatway for a golden duck.

The match manager Mike Ghersie selected Charles Penn for this match unaware apparently that Charles had been Banned for Life after a long and tortured process a decade before.
