A close finish in Nomads’ favour

Nomads achieved a respectable total thanks primarily to the trio of mid order batsmen the best of which was Robin Symondson who hit 57 including three 6s. However it took us some 52 overs. Barnes;s Hume finished with very tidy figures of 6-26 off 16 overs.

On resumption Paul Burnham bowled Stevenson for a duck and Charlton Lamb removed numbers 3 and 4 cheaply but Barnes seemed to be coasting to a win at 154-5 when Blumberg took his second wicket, 154-6. The late introduction of John Behar provided the coup de grace. First he removed Hume on 36 and then skittled out the tail to finish with 4-26 off 4.3 overs. Nomads had won by 19 runs with 9 balls left.

It is worth noting in hindsight that despite a 2pm start 95 overs were bowled.
