Michael H Wilkins 1946-2024
Dr Mike Wilkins was an obstetrician by profession who rose to senior consultant before retiring. He was an outstanding and very tall fast medium seam bowler who bowled off ‘the wrong foot’. He has died recently having been ill for some years. Mike was the best Nomads bowler of his generation. Mike took over 318 wickets for Nomads at the miserly average of little over 12 runs per wicket. He had immense stamina bowling long spells and would inform the skipper when it was time to change the bowling. Never the other way round !
He was also a good Tennis and Hockey player and keen Golfer and Croquet player. He attended many of our annual dinners pre Covid. He also had the good sense to marry a lady who was a superb scorer with all the colours and ball by ball.
His funeral was on May 14th and amongst many there to celebrate his life were former Nomads Skipper Dr David Fermont and Club President Michael Blumberg.
