We had expected a strong Cross Arrows batting line up and so had packed our side with batting so as to have a good chance of making a successful run chase. Nomads won the toss and inserted Cross Arrows. It was adamp misty morning and both While and Woolhouse achieved prodigious late swing, the former claiming two early wickets. However Miller prevailed and with Khan and Mulrane took the score to 212-3 whereupon the innings imploded to the spin of Wakers and Jemile with Stokes and While also taking a wicket in the collapse. So Cross Arrows were all out 237 in the 52nd over. The Cross arrows bowling lacked venom and Wakers and Jemile added 155 for the 1st wicket. Wakers went on to complete a fine century and Andy Stokes made a merry cameos with several sixes. Nomads had won by 8 wickets. Despite the pleasure of winning so well at Head Quarters there was much disgruntlement from batsman 5-10. With an already official published scoresheet the skipper felt obliged to retain the original batting order. Jemile Al-Darraji had turned up seriously late so Sam Bates our official 12th man fielded most of the pre lunch period. Another disgruntled member was former Nomads skipper Russell Mann who was not selected since it was not known that he was available. Nomads dined well and enjoyed an excellent tea thanks to MCC. There was an excellent turn out of members and supporters for this match and many joined the team at the Tavern pub afterwards.
