Nomads did not play during the Great War. Of the 45 playing members in 1914, 27 were killed. As a result the club did not resume playing until 1922 season.

At the end of the 1922  season the name Hampstead was dropped as it had no meaning with the membership being spread throughout London and beyond. However many opponents and the Cricketer Magazine continued to refer to Nomads as Hampstead Nomads for several years afterwards.
