Middlesex CCC won the County Championship. Northamptonshire won the Minor Counties Championship. The Philadelphians toured The British Isles playing most of the counties and Scotland in first class matches. In the Winter of 1903-4 Plum Warner lead England to a 3-2 Ashes win over Australia and Reginald ‘Tip’ Foster hit 287 at the SCG Sydney against Australia the highest test score at the SCG until Michael Clarke’s 329* in January 2012.

1903 was one of the wettest summers recorded, at least as far as cricket was concerned. So a late Autumn foundation worked out sensibly. 1904 was much better.
