NOMADS IN SAUMUR

Nomads visited France for the first time since the early ’80s.This was to be the first overseas tour of Nomads of endless ones to come defining the club as avery regular overseas tourer. Also in conjunction with Plaxtol CC another tour in Essex was undertaken. At Stowe David Hagan and Steve Watson added 235 * for the 2nd wicket. Tony Whiteway played his last innings 54 at Barnes CC. Apparently he had already suffered a mild stroke and subsequently in hospital suffered may more strokes leaving him partially disabled. Tony had been Nomads heaviest scoring batsman over thirty years as well as being a most diligent match manager. Although a lot of people played for Nomads in 1997 very few played a substantial number of matches. A generation of Nomads had moved on or retired.
