Cricket World XI undertook a tour of India in November 1990. the party consisted of 17 members. CWXI played in Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai and also visited Agra, Sariska Tiger reserve as well as the Bharatpur bird sanctuary. CWXI played six matches and won three, no mean feat in India.

We were met at the Delhi airport by our friends from the Delhi Blues. Rather groggy after long flight from Heathrow London.

There was some misinformation preceding our arrival in that it was announced in the Delhi and India National Press that three touring teams were arriving Sutton CC, Champions of the Surrey Championship that year, Maltamaniacs CC and CWXI. the mix up occurred because Martin Couch when confirming our fixtures with our opponents did so as Sutton CC not CWXI. Bill Frindall had told his India press & broadcasting colleagues that he was coming so they assumed we were his club Maltamaniacs CC. Luckily there were not three grounds and three opposing teams to play!

We arrive at the hotel to reception and meet our guide Mohammed Shoukrat.

The party was made up of players from Met Police, Shoreham, Sutton, Abinger, Leatherhead, Old Elthamians, Cockfosters, Nomads & Maltamaniacs with four ladies in support.

Naturally we visited the beautiful Taj Mahal
