JM Moss has a great match
JM Moss with seven wickets and 72 runs scored had an outstanding game in which Nomads won comfortably. The Cricketer Magazine described the Gymkhana side as a poor one and indeed they were missing several regular names in the sides which dominated Nomads in previous years. Dr Cinnetamby opening scored fifty supported by Contractor and Ryahatti with twenties but thereafter the innings collapsed, six batters scoring eleven.
JM Moss despite the exertion of taking seven wickets opened the Nomads innings and top scored with 72 and with a series of mid order cameos Nomads passed the Gymkhana total easily then carrying on to 179 by the close, some fifty runs ahead of the home side.
The Cricketer Magazine states that this match was played at Osterley Park rather than at the Club’s own ground off Thornbury avenue. Osterley Park has a grand house designed by Robert Adams and extensive gardens open to the public today but so far we can not trace cricket ever being played there. There certainly was the space for a cricket field.
