Royals fifer puts Dumplings in a Stew
Last year Nomads batting underwhelmed, this year apart from Elliott Barnes it was Dumplings batting who failed to the slow bowling of Chris Royals and Ben Butcher, all out 164 off 44.2 overs. Five batsmen were bowled and two lbw playing injudicious shots to dead straight balls! Maybe Tour Fatigue was a factor.
In Reply Nomads made a good start 1- 57 as Liam Kol was stumped for 30. Then three more wickets fell cheaply all to off spinner Harrison Gribble,4-78 off 19 overs. Thereafter cameos from Sher Chatta, Abdi Zulfiqar and Matt Nichols saw Nomads home to a four wicket victory with some 16 overs to spare. Extras 36 helped accelerate the innings as Dumplings had no regular Keeper!
Nomads suffered a last minute drop out so Dumplings lent us Matt Nichols who bowled and batted effectively for Nomads.
Both teams enjoyed the evening sunshine to quaff some beers though Dumplings had a protracted ‘Fines’ session in which their umpire Paul Berman suffered. Lunch and Tea were exceptional so most players and officials left seriously replete. This was Nomads second defeat of Dumplings in six encounters.
The two Dumplings opening bowlers are qualified for Germany. Niall Perfect also plays for Hornsey 1st XI and Seb Looker for Exeter 1st XI.
