A close run thing

Nomads/Plaxtol were 8 short of victory while Mistley needed one more wicket to win when play stopped with two balls left.

Mistley batted first and a ninety from  R Mills was the mainstay of the innings which was declared at 222-6 off 46.3 overs. Plaxtol/Nomads had employed eight bowlers the most successful of which was Coombes with 2-17.

In reply The tourists lost Ghersie for a duck in the 4th over to Funnell.Palmer at the other  end bowled six successive maiden overs so it was sluggish start but Games and Taylorson took the score to 87 before Taylorson was out.Games 's productive innings of 80#2 came to an end caught behind off Taylor with the score at 132. Steyne with 49 took the tourists close to a victory but with the return of Palmer and funnell a flurry of wickets fell in sight of victory. The infamous Nomads collapse was four wickets for five runs this time leaving us short of 8 runs with Gregory and Evans at the crease.

What a finish!
