Ben & Kyle hang on for a draw
Last year Adi Hector scored a double hundred against Nomads so when he was bowled for 29 this time by James Hamilton Nomads were overjoyed. However Nomads let themselves down in the field before lunch with many a misfield and fumble which assisted the Oratory total as the boys scampered up and down the pitch.
Following a very good lunch indeed Nomads improved in the field and Ben Butcher bowled a tidy and profitable spell ,6-74 off 21.1 overs. The Oratory innings was held together by a patient century from Will Underhay who had played for Nomads in 2024, 108 off 143 balls. With his dismissal caught and bowled by Ben the innings was declared at 251-9.
Nomads openers had fallen with 31 on the board. Both Arnav and Tom looked good promising a big score but fell in the 30s. A good stand developed between James and Kyle producing 59 before James was bowled for 30 so Nomads were now 7-191 with but 9 overs left to score 61. Kyle who had been in good form the day before at Sonning hit some boundaries but Hassan and Raymond swung unsuccessfully leaving Ben Butcher to block out with Kyle nearly six overs to avoid defeat which they did.
Afterwards Nomads joined the Oratorians upstairs in the Pavilion for a few beers before departing. Another great day at Oratory enjoyed in fine weather. Many thanks Oratory.
