Nomads were pleased to meet the youthful all rounder Devam Shah at breakfast after the humiliating defeat the day before. On another beautiful warm cloudless day Phil Pennick lent us a player and so we competed as 10 against 10. He then won the toss and elected to bat but not before agreeing to no limitation on bowlers.!. Nomads opened with Nilesh Patel, slow and Devam Shah, quick. Nilesh was to take two early wickets removing the openers cheaply including yesterdays 50 retired Jamdshaid. Pennick and Mahmood put on 59 before Pennick was adjudged lbw and a mini collapse followed with Mahood bowled by Shah. Kieran Perman threaten to restore the innings but he was also bowled by Shah. Nilesh took 2 more wickets to complete a fifer and Wakers grabbed two with his leg spin. Sporting Alfas were all out in 28 overs for a modest 147. After another excellent tea Nomads opened with debutant Malik and Wakers. Malik fell quickly and then Wakers looking in fine form was run out needlessly. Naman fell at 62 and when Devam played a rash shot Nomads were 82-4. Nilesh and Ross added a match winning 53 before Nilesh was clean bowled for 49. Pat Patel strode in and played a magnificent cover drive to win the match. There was some disquiet that we had bowled Devam from one end without a break but that was soon forgotten as Phil Pennick conducted an amusing match fines system after the match. Then Nomads settled in to celebrate. The party split for dinner the ‘Veggies’ and associates in one restaurant consuming a ‘Vegetarian Paella’ while the rest enjoyed meat and fish next door at ‘Black & White’ Dominoes. Both restaurants shared the kitchen which presumably would have horrified Vegans. The waitresses at Dominoes have long sustained an affection for Sajjad Shawl and Keith Alexander who were sadly absent. However they dealt with the drunken amorous advances of Kevin Smith with remarkable patience and charm. This contrasted with Mark Williams who nearly came to blows over his dissection of a sumptuous fish. On leaving the restaurant Kevin Smith was last seen in serious conversion with three septuagenarian ladies studying the bus time table. As he could not recollect the incident next morning quite where he went to in the bus with this trio was never established. Kyle Bradley who had failed to join us for dinner was absent next day at breakfast!
