Season opens with conclusive win

After a late start(2.45pm)Nomads dismissed Pinkney’s Green for a modest total of 89 stretched out over 41 overs. Tony Smiley and Rob Symondson took three wickets each and Tony Clarke took two. Alastair Symondson picked up one wicket by way of a deft stumping by Tony Lycett.

It was 5.20pm after tea when Richard Kershaw and Neil Thompson started the Nomads reply and having reached 13, Kershaw contrived to be stumped whereupon Rob Symondson was out caught and by 6.16pm Tim Grant was back in the pavilion. This was beginning to look like a Nomads self destruct exercise notwithstanding the batting in depth.

However Lycett joined Thompson and these two quickly hit off the remaining required runs. Indeed Tony Lycett finished the match with a flourish, hitting a four and a six off successive balls to clinch victory.
