Comfortable Win for Nomads
The Cricketer Magazine records this as a 57 run win for Nomads implying Nomads batted first and yet they publish the scorecard with Herts Wanderers batting first. so that is how we have left it. Not a single Herts Wanderer made double figures unable to cope with Nomads bowling and so mustered just 55.
Most of the Nomads batsmen struggled too. However Fred Weeks and Webster posted twenties and Webster 4 which helped Nomads reach 112 in reply. Perhaps the pitch was underprepared?
The Country House Micklefield Hall origainally built in 1740 was then owned by the Clutterbuck family one of whom was playing for Herts Wanderers. Anna and Jamie Rankin acquired it in 1998 and following much restoration it now hosts business events as well as weddings, bar mitzvas and more, also offering accommodation, the cricket ground adjacent to those of Aldenham School still exists and there is a farm.
