Heavy Defeat for Nomads
Despite their recent good form and the victory over Finchley Nomads batting collapsed at Ealing and was not faring very well in their second innings. Nomads leading bowlers Boully and Kirkpatrick(with some eightfers behind them) took one wicket each but for the rest of the innings it was a long and fruitless toil before the declaration.
Assuming the initials are correct it would seem JHA Tolkien is not relative of JRR Tolkien the author of Lord of the Rings.
The Pavilion at Ealing presumably looked very different from now.If anyone has a photo of the 1912 clubhouse do let us have a copy.
