This was Nomads first visit to North Enfield which turned out to have an attractive ground and fine clubhouse. The day was one of two distinct halves. Before Tea there was a blue sky and it was warm. Nomads came with a team bursting with experience but only two youngsters. Had they removed the skipper and number two as they had the swashbuckling number 1 they would undoubtedly have faced a less daunting target. In the end though North Enfield finished on 272-6 after 40 overs and Kieran Jones 142 not out. Josh Thomas had bowled tidily with little luck and teenage Jesal Kulhar bowled well taking two wickets which with a younger fielding side may have been more. Vamsi took two wickets in his four overs and perhaps should have bowled some more.
Nomads were faced with a target of 272. Nigel Bloch fell early but there were five cameos including Staff’s 39 retired and Pat Patel was striking well when the Forty overs were reached. Nomads had scored 192 which was a respectable total in few of the age difference between the sides. Jesal Kulhar with 29 showed she was no mean allrounder for one so young.
We were visited by Keith Alexander who had to withdraw through injury but whom we must thanks for organising the great TEA!
Well worth another visit but with a younger side.
