Nomads bowlers fail to match Mike Ghersie's masterly batting

Mike Gherise played a magnificent innings punishing all the Longparish bowlers, posting 140 unbeaten at the declaration, striking 20 fours and five sixes. The seventh wicket had reached 50 with the Hon Sec on but 3 whereupon, spurred on by the jeers on the boundary he hit a six and promptly declared.  This was to be Mike Ghersie's highest score for Nomads.

This was indeed a mighty batting team which could have easily have  lined up in reverse order. It was also noteworthy for having four regular wicket keepers. Tony Lycett who did 'keep, aware of the scrutiny he was under from his fellow glove men, gave an exemplary display conceding not one bye nor a leg bye.

Longparish did have a mid order wobble losing 'Run Machine' Dennis Luff for 67 but number 8 Hibberd counter attacked  so from a perilous 130-6 Longparish finished on 242-8 at the close to draw the match.
