Nigel Taylorson powers Plaxtol to victory After playing three matches in Essex as a combined team Plaxtol and Nomads now set about each other back at Plaxtol. Nomads were short so some Plaxtol members made up numbers.
Nomads skipper Mike ghersie won the toss and elected to bat, Whiteway and Mann put on a healthy 79 run 1st wicket partnership before both falling at this score. Whiteway rather carelessly hit wicket. Ghersie and Garthorpe added 21 before Ghersie fell and then Griffiths and Garthorpe succumbed shortly after, making Nomads 117-5 with a batman missing. Debutant Garner and Nick Hammill then rebuilt the innings adding 50 before Hammill was caught behind. This triggered a 'Nomads collapse' as 4 wickets fell for 6 runs leaving Garner stranded on 27 not out. This total was at least 30 short.
In response Plaxtol soon lost opener Stevens to Hammill who bowled a tidy spell of seven overs 1-18. Oatley joined Taylorson and these two added 117 for the second wicket being severe on the bowling of Mann, Blumberg and Whiteway. In hindsight too late the skipper brought on Garner and then himself and four wickets tumbled quickly reducing Plaxtol to 168-5. Taylorson and Court saw Plaxtol home to a five wicket win. Well, at least top scoring batsman Nigel Taylorson is a Nomad as well.
Despite the bonhomie of the day this was a rather disappointing performance by Nomads CC.
