Victory after a memorable Tea
Heathfield CC was a South London Caribbean Club who had found a regular home ground at that time in leafy Walton on Thames. They had quite a large family supporting unit and they provided one of the best Teas ever with a serious West Indian flavour.
Heathfield’s innings was built around two sixties from Hemraj and Basdeo. A fifer from Blumberg accounted for the rest cheaply so that they declared at 185-7 after 43 overs.
Despite the sumptuous tea Nomads openers Whiteway and Thompson got off to a solid start and despite a bit of a mid innings wobble Terry Hills unbeaten on 39 got us home just in time.
