Warriors Underwhelm

Nomads were looking forward to meeting our good friends Kensington but they failed to raise a side. Victor our match manager quickly replaced them with Bexley Heath but then they dropped out so we tried Waltham CC via the CCC but that failed. Thankfully Victor then found Gillingham Warriors who duly turned up in their colourful Pyjama attire.

Warriors won the toss and elected to bat revealing that the top order had little skill at this endeavour. Some of the later batsmen looked much more at ease at the crease and so with the help of seven dropped catches Warriors stretched their innings to 42 overs posting a modest 113.

After a super Blackheath tea Pawan Malik and young debutant Higaran opened for Nomads to discover whatever the short comings of Warriors’ batting their bowling was of a much better quality. Despite the occasional wide they almost all recorded very tidy figures. Pawan was lucky to survive but struck 34 while his partner was bogged down and out for 6, 48-2.

George Gardiner and Naman Paropkaria added 66 runs to win the match but not without a load of lbw appeals. Nomads won after 32.3 overs.

The weather was beautiful and Nomads lingered long after the game enjoying the fine evening. Many thanks to Victor for securing a fixture for us.
