Thrashed by Headley
Another Nomads batting disaster.A sluggish start against accurate bowling followed by the heavy cavalry floundering so much that we found ourselves 95-7. An eighth wicket stand of 59 between Paul Maloney and John White gave some semblance of respectabilty to the total but it had taken nearly 57 overs. This was Professor John White's highest score ever for Nomads!
Following an excellent tea Nomads had left Headley 33 overs and so opened with part time seamer McIver and left arm slow lobs from David Oatway.. with the score at 72-3 after 18 overs the game may have been evenly poised but a 76 run partnership between Ashby and Harrod assured Headley of victory. The penultimate ball of the match was smashed for an enormous six to level the scores. It was sometime before the ball was retrieved and the last ball could be bowled. This went for a bye. Headley had won 9 balls to spare.
Nomads lingered long into the evening enjoying Headley's locally brewed real ale and hot sausages.
