Depleted Nomads Only Just Lose Despite the popularity of this fixture in Ditchling's splendid cricket week Nomads suffered a load of drop outs so Ditchling kindly made up numbers. Nomads had a decent top order but a series of cameos resulted with no one making a big score and the tail folded so 159 was always going to be a difficult score to defend and Nomads had none of their front line bowlers. James Leahy and Michael Blumberg bowled 44 overs and took six wickets which might have been more with a bit of luck. Ditchling's victory was the result of two decent scores, 54 from Smithson and 40 (run out) by opener Bradley. Ditchling won with one over to go, R Wright hitting two 2s off James Leahy's 24th over. In the event a close run thing! Despite the defeat Nomads lingered long into the night as was traditional in those days for Ditchling’s hospitality was renown and yet everybody arrived home safely.
