Too easy win for Nomads

Nomads struggled somewhat on a dodgy pitch but nevertheless reached a commendable 190-5 off 40 overs thanks to four cameos from Elech, Hamilton, Malhotra and debutant Nisor.

In reply Streatham & Marlborough’s batting seemed to be mostly 4th XI and so the innings was soon in disarray.

At 21-4 Nomads skipper removed Ayaz Omar from the attack as he seemed likely to take 7 or 8 wickets for nothing much. Even so the gentler pace of Dr Stride and spin of skipper Butcher and Ben Hyam proved too much for the home side who were all out for 90 in 27 overs.

It was a pity that S & M had selected a team of 3rd,4th and 5th XI players while ours was a mix of 1st XI,2nd XI and 3rd XI. For many years past S & M put ought a good side under Chris Reardon indeed in 2016 they beat us by 36 runs.
