Shiraz hits a ton but Nomads declare too late to force a win

Wembley had a stronger side out against this time so it useful that our young opening pair put on 140 for the 1st wicket. However there was something of a mini collapse as numbers 3 and 4 recorded ducks an exact repeat of what had happened in the earlier Wembley match. Dino Antoniades struck 25 and Duncan Ellis 15 but unfortunately Shiraz took a long time to reach his century which delayed the declaration.

Nomads enjoyed a good tea but play resumed somewhat tardily such that Nomads only bowled 36 overs at Wembley which was not enough.Nomads had limited bowling resources but the bowlers all bowled tidily and both Finn Bryan and Chetan Malhotra picked up 2 wickets. Debutant Niranjan Kirloska on holiday from India made up for his duck with a catch, a run out and and one wicket.

However Wembley easily held on for a draw. Another curiosity of this match compared withe earlier one was the lack of lbws this time.

Fin Bryan’s ladyfriend turned out to be an impressive fielder perhaps she should have batted and bowled.

Several Nomads lingered at the bar including club skipper Tom Brockton who watched the latter part of the match.
