Wednesday June 5th v Wembley CC
LBW Fiesta brings swift victory to Nomads
Nomads were far too strong for a weak Wembley side who were without both overseas players. Fin Bryan hit a fluent century off some mostly indifferent bowling while debutant Simon D'Ardennes struck sixty one producing an opening stand of 169.
Wembley were short a player and we had 12 so we lent them Chris Stride who then clean bolwed both Jon Thornton and Kyle Bradley for ducks in the course of 3 balls. Richard Chalk and Professor Chris Page took the total to 230 off 35 overs whereupon the skipper declared.
The early declaration caught the Tea Ladies by surprise but they quickly rallied to the cause with a fine array of good cricket tea fare by which time club skipper Tom Brockton had arrived in support.
Suitably fed Nomads took the field and swiftly demolished Wembley with a fiesta of lbws in favour of Andy Marshall and Chris Page. Two good catches accounted for top scorer Shesh by Duncan Ellis and another by Andy Marshall removed Wembley skipper Haskell both off the bowling of Pradip Lotlecar.
Wembley were all out in the 23rd over so there was a long session, first outside and then within the clubhouse and a toast drunk in memory of Charlie Meyers
