Two Tons & A Generous declaration
Two Nomads scored centuries and retired not out. One batted for Nomads the other for Sonning. Mark Richards won the toss and batted. The top order failed but debutant Peter Dean with Kyle Bradley added 140. Kyle with a couple of mighty sixes and Oliver Newton took the score to 229 whereupon Mark declared.
Following an excellent Tea Mark struck early having ‘keeper Jastri caught. Rob Jones joined skipper Richard Skeil and these two somewhat savaged Nomads bowling adding 135 before Arvind enticed a mishit from Skeil, 2-147. Daniel Longridge joined Rob who took the chase near target before Rob retired. Nomads took two late wickets, Newton removed Parkes and Gray was run out but Sonning won the match with at least 9 balls to spare.
Thanks to Sonning CC for an enjoyable day’s cricket thankfully in cooler conditions in contrast to the very recent heatwave.
