Nearly but not quite

Nomads batted first and struggled to post a decent total despite a decent opening stand from Charlie Penn and Ali Symondson. Nomads top scorer was Blumberg with 42 assisted by Merricks with 22.To almost everyone's surprise the Hon Sec hit two sixes. Nomads innings was much enhanced by 41 extras which enabled skipper Whiteway to declare at 182-8 off 47 overs

Nomads bowlers started well removing 2,3 and 4 for little but a series of 20s from four Send batsmen thwarted Nomads who were one wicket short of victory at the close after 46 overs. Toulmin took three wickets and Doyle and Symondson two apiece.

Again looking at this scorecard almost forty years later it seems remarkable that 93 overs could be bowled in an afternoon game starting a little after 2pm.
