Debutant Rohan Sharma steals the Show yet The Stage draws match
The temperature was warmer than on our recent games yet unsettled with sunny patches and two showers before evolving into a fine evening. Nomads batted first and the top three succumbed to some skilfull bowling from Ali and Barrett. At 62 Joe Purnell played an extravagant shot to a dead straight ball and was bowled. Nomads were now 4-65. Matt Whitthread now joined Rohan Sharma and these struck 62 in 9 overs before Matt missed a straight one from Charlie Moore. Skipper James now joined Rohan and thee two raced along adding 117 runs off just under 12 overs whereupon the declaration was made. Rohan had scored 133 with 17 x 4s and 1 six, a feature of which was his footwork as he danced down the pitch to Charlie Moore’s bowling. After a good Tea The Stage made a solid start before losing both openers on 44. Fielding took a second leaving the stage at 4-73 off 16 overs. Singh now dropped anchor and he and Rogers added 47, Staff taking the 4th wicket. Juriansz then bowled Michael Howard so The Stage were 5-122 with ten overs to go. At this point entered Charlie Moore rather too late to meaningfully effect the chase. He fell lbw to Shirsh Bedi at 6-147. Bedi’s seam bowling seemed to revive Singh from his slumber at the wicket and he hit some boundaries as the game came to an end. Most of both teams lingered for an ale or two before departing.
