Wakers Ton sets up victory

All the Nomads Victorious at Chingford May 27th
A lot of drop outs from the original selected team but resourceful Match Manager Pat Patel secured a 12 man squad on the day with a few debutants, a very warm day! Pat won the toss and invited Old Vics to bat. The seventh ball of the match by way of a bowler stumble bowled Mike Blake for 1. Douglas and Bizwas then added 89. Two useful stands of 43 and 49 took the total to 4-186 whereupon three more wickets fell and the innings was declared closed at 219 off 46.50 overs. Douglas top scored with 63, Rob Allum took 3 wickets and Nick Claydon claimed three stumpings.

Following a Bill Burke tea Nomads replied with vigour, Wakers and Matt Whitthread adding 84 for the 1st wicket. James and Wakers added a further 59 before James was caught behind chasing a wide one for 42 at 147. Wakers carried on serenely with Nick Patterson and Nick Claydon as partners reaching 110 at which point he was bowled at 214. Rob Allen and Kevin Patterson took us to victory in the 33rd over with several overs to go.

After a few drinks Nomads departed having enjoyed a good day’s cricket under the experienced management of Pat Patel who naturally had completed a profitable bet! Meanwhile Chingford conducted a Committee Meeting outside on a warm evening
