Seven catches wins the match for Nomads
Nomads returned to Chingford for the second time this season, won the toss and elected to bat.Thierry was out early. Both Vic and Narzm looked solid but Vic got a brute of a delivery and parried the ball to gully whereupon shortly after Narzm missed a straight one. So Nomads were 71-3 off 11.3 overs. Joe Purnell and veteran Nigel Bloch then put on 56 before Joe succumbed to Singh, clean bowled. James by way of a careless shot was caught without troubling the scorers. Blakey commanded the crease for a while as he and Nigel added 48. At this point George Gardner came to the crease and he and Nigel added a swift 69. George hit three huge sixes amidst his 53 not out off 39 balls. The innings was declared at 242-6 off 44.40vers with Nigel Bloch unbeaten on 72. This was calculated to give Chingford a similar number of overs.
After a very good Tea indeed Nomads opened the bowling with Gardner and Hamilton who removed the two openers,66-2. The Chingford innings was dominated by Ali Butt who top scored with 83 before being run out by Nigel Bloch while wickets fell at the other end. Vishal, Arvind and Yasin were among the wicket takers but all credit to Chingford for swinging their bats in pursuit of victory rather than dropping anchor. The 7th wicket stand of 37 got them close but the innings closed on 231 some 16 runs short of target. Seven Nomads catches were decisive in this win.
The sun came out in the evening requiring a sequence of overs being bowled from the same end.
Post match Nomads and Chingford enjoyed several jugs of beer, Nomads glad to have won a match after two defeats over the weekend.
