The Scorer had to concentrate

Virgin XI had an annual match with Gaieties which became a Nomads match. Gaieties also had an annual inter club match which metamorphosed into a memorial match for Ossie Gooding to which the family Gooding would bring a Caribbean Feast. Then Harold Pinter, Gaieties Chairman, died so the match became Gooding Pinter. Gaieties struggled to find 22 players so Nomads joined the match. Then Charlton Lamb dies and so the match became a memorial match for all three, two of whom were both Gaieties and Nomads. So Nomads and Gaieties came to play each other twice a season for some dozen years. For many playing today these legendary characters may be unknown but they gave so much to the game and both clubs it is only appropriate to still honour their memory.
